Summer is finally here, and the kids are loving playing outside! Evy wants to play in her "toyhouse" any chance she can get and sometimes our little neighbor boy, Kolby will come play too. Aiden tries very hard to join in, but since he can't walk quite yet, he is happy to look on and laugh. We have been going for some walks, in which evy usually strips Buddy of his socks and shoes and throws them out of the stroller. One disadvantage of a side-by-side stroller. But an easy fix to that is: Buddy wears no shoes or socks on walks. Buddy is doing very well walking along things and if you're holding his hand, but he is too afraid to let go yet. I have a feeling it won't be long and he'll forget himself and just go. Evy's new obsession is Sleeping Beauty. We rented it from the library the other day and she has made me watch it over and over and over. She likes to dance like Sleeping Beauty. She doesn't like the part where Sleeping Beauty wanders off into the castle following that green light and then pricks her finger. She tells me every time that Sleeping Beauty is "naughty" because she touches the spindle and gets an owie. Well that's one way to look at it I guess!
Both babies are missing their Daddy right now. He is gone on tour with the band and will be gone for 10 days total. Evy enjoys calling him on the phone though, and is always happy to hear from him. Aiden has also noticed his absence, noted by the fact that he crawled to the front door to look out the window and yelled dadada da-y dada for about five minutes while he smacked the window. I showed him a picture of daddy which he petted for a while, then i tried to have him call daddy on the phone. He doesn't understand how the phone works so when he heard Daddy's voice, he got really excited and smiled however he kept trying to bring the whole phone to his mouth (I think he was trying to kiss it). But he enjoyed the experience nevertheless, and was upset when it wasn't his turn anymore.
Evy has been very helpful while Daddy is gone. He told her to take care of Buddy while he was gone and I think she listened very well. Buddy hasn't been feeling very well and this afternoon he threw up in his bed during his nap. When I had both him and Evy in the living room I asked her if she could make sure Buddy stays in the living room while I go clean Buddy's bed. She said ok, and I came down a few minutes later without them noticing and was checking the weather when I heard her say, "No Buddy, Mommy's cleaning your bed". She was really trying to keep him from crawling out of the living room and was telling him where I was. So cute that she can do things like that now. Not that she always does, but she's a big girl all the same. She was also very upset that we couldn't go to the library this afternoon, but when i explained to her that Buddy didn't feel good and that we needed to take care of him, her response was: "ok. I love you Buddy." OH so SWEET!
